Prasanta Kumar Bose Distinguished Lecture Series

The Prasanta Kumar Bose Distinguished Lecture Series is initiated in the college with the objective to enrich the intellectual experience of the faculty and students. The mission of the college has been to take quality initiatives in academic and extension activities and to promote informative and innovative educational experiences in the institution. Since there exist different academic streams in the college, an inter-disciplinary lecture series was felt necessary to bring together the various pillars of knowledge under one canopy.

The Inaugural Lecture of the series was delivered on 30th October, 2014, by Professor Ranjan Chakrabarti, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Vidyasagar University. Professor Chakrabarti, an eminent historian, spoke on the social, cultural and historical aspects of environmental crisis. The inaugural ceremony was presided by Sri Ashok Deb, the President, Governing Body of Bangabasi Morning College. The contribution of Late Professor Prasanta Kumar Bose, former Principal of Bangabasi College was remembered with great honour. The Principal, Bangabasi Morning College discussed the brief history of the college emphasizing the vision and mission of the al ma mater. The lecture was highly appreciated and followed by an interactive academic discussion.

A special lecture on ‘FDI’ was organised by the Department of Commerce.

A special lecture on ‘Foreign Direct Investment’ was organised by the Department of Commerce, Bangabasi Morning College on January 31, 2015. Lecture was delivered by Tamal Taru Roy, Associate Professor of Naba Ballyguange Mahavidyalaya. His lecture included how the FDI policy in developing countries should seek to promote exports, technology and jobs. This lecture was organized just to inform students about FDI in retail sector and its importance in development of the country.

A session for apprising the students on “Career as a Company Secretary”

A session for apprising the students on “Career as a Company Secretary” was organised by the Department of Commerce, Bangabasi Morning College on December 22, 2015 in collaboration with TheInstitute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI). S.Sreejesh, Section Officer, ICSI EIRO conducted the session. The session highlighted the key role of Company Secretaries in the growth and development of the Indian Corporate Sector and how the ICSI producing a cadre of highly qualified Company Secretaries as corporate managerial professionals for efficiently and professionally managing the administrative, secretarial, legal as well as financial activities, thus enabling the unhindered growth of the corporate sector.
