Communal Harmony

The Flag Day of the Communal Harmony Campaign Week was ceremoniously observed by Bangabasi Morning College on 25th November, 2016. Two distinguished Retired Faculty Members of the Institution, Prof. Achintya Biswas and Prof. Arup Ranjan Pradhan of English and Political Science respectively were invited to speak on the occasion. They focused on the need to assimilate and link the various discordant threads in our society to overcome the menace of religious intolerance and fundamentalism. Dr Madan Chandra Karan, HoD, Bengali and Smt. SabihaTazneen, HoD, Urdu shared their thoughts on the importance on preserving and sustaining fellow-feeling amongst different communities which together make India what it is. Dr Mukul Kr. Mitra, HoD, Physics and unreservedly atheist, gave us his perspective on the issues at stake. Sri Jahar Lal Das, Governing Body Member and a former student of the college, threw light on the rich Bangabasi tradition of upholding the spirit and ethos of communal harmony in the way religious, social and economic minorities, have, over the years, joined hands in both curricular and extra-curricular activities that enrich the lives of young citizens of our country.
